School is out. My birthday is closer. I have already treated myself to some things that I have wanted to a long time. My desire for being pretty is done. It is time to head out and venture on my own. Neko sings ‘I am so tired, I wish I was the moon tonight.’ I know how that feels. Looking out the window into the dark sky. Dreaming dreams of change. Different walls. Different voices.
What comes next for me? College? A job. What would I do? I know how to shop! I wonder if that can be a career? I will just slide on my Gucci‘s and an over-sized Alexander Wang sweater and ‘hit the bricks’ as my mom says. What does that mean? Perhaps it is the yellow brick road that Elton John sings about? My Fixxative sunglasses are nothing like the beauties that he wears but look cool on me.
A stylist? Perhaps I could go into advertising. Intern. All the luxuries of a job but really none of the commitment. That sounds good for the summer. Maybe at Alexander Wang in New York City or at Prada. New York is the big apple. It is fashion central for all the big designers. After maybe walk these Wang’s over to Vogue. Hey Anna! Need a new creative director? I am right here, right now.
Need to reflect on the future. I will snuggle pink pup in my oversized Ih Nom Uh Nit sweat top and dream of big city adventures. Away from home and the room of pink. Away from permission. Freedom to be me.
