It is the first week of January and the world has reset itself. A new year, a new you. My ‘you’ is barely old enough to need resetting! LOL. I am looking for direction. Seeking my path. Whether it leads to enlightenment or a new pair of shoes, I don’t know.
Roger Vivier is an inspiration. The designer opened his first boutique in Paris in 1937. Charming I am sure. Soon celebrities from France, like legendary beauties Catherine Deneuve and Brigitte Bardot, visited. Then things got all royal. Kate Middleton‘s mother-in-law, Queen E, that is for Elizabeth not England, visited too. Film royalty and actual royalty. So technically, wearing these fur-lined Vivier slides connects me with history in a comfy way.
Creating my own voice. Expressing my emotions. This is what fashion does for me. I tell the world who I am by what I choose to wear. I like colour. Textures like the velvet on this YSL cross-body and the soft cashmere knit of this Fendi Roma sweater.
It is always a pleasant surprise to find that one of your favourite brands is creating more options. I love Acne Studios for their cashmere/mohair scarves. The colours, the rough yet pleasing texture, how they feel wrapped around my neck when the wind is blowing. Now I find they make jeans. Not just regular jeans. These awesome ones. Short, wide bottoms, and fringed. So different. They make me very happy.
A new year. New resolutions? No. Just live. Explore. Get excited about opportunity. Take risks. Say YES to new ideas. Live. Hello 2019!
